As Christian parents, we want our children to grow not only in knowledge, but in wisdom — to understand how the world works and who made it.

Scripture reminds us, “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made… For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” (Psalm 33:6–9). We serve a God of order, consistency and truth. The same God who set the stars in place designed a world that reflects his character — even in subjects like mathematics.

More Than Numbers

At EC, math is more than formulas and equations. It is an opportunity for students to discover patterns, logic, and structure woven into creation itself. When students solve a problem, identify a pattern or prove a theorem, they are engaging with the order God built into the world.

That matters, because in a culture that can often feel chaotic, mathematics offers something steady and reliable. God’s creation is consistent. As students grow in confidence in math, they also experience the consistency of a faithful God who does not change.

Teaching Through a Christian Worldview

Middle school math teacher, Emily Bradley, explains it this way:

“In math class, we see a small reflection of the story of creation, fall and redemption. We often begin with a problem that feels disordered or confusing. Through logical thinking and perseverance, students bring order to that problem. It’s a small but meaningful picture of restoration.”

In our classrooms, students are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions and approach challenges with perseverance. They learn that mistakes are part of growth and that diligence matters. We help them see that their intellectual gifts are part of how they can serve God and others.

What This Means for Your Child

When your child studies math at EC, they are:

  • Building strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Developing perseverance and confidence
  • Learning to see God’s faithfulness reflected in the consistency of his creation
  • Being equipped to pursue future academic and career opportunities with excellence

From our Midland Park campus through our Wyckoff and North Haledon campuses, we are committed to providing excellent academics within a distinctly Christian framework.

Because at EC, we do not separate faith from learning. We integrate them — helping students engage the mind, nurture the spirit and prepare to act as Christ’s transforming agents in the world.
