Eastern Christian School welcomes Ava Visbeen as an upper elementary and middle school art teacher. With a personal background in Christian education and a passion for art, she is excited to begin her year at EC.

Please tell us about yourself.

I grew up in south-central Pennsylvania, where I have the most loving and deeply faithful community. My husband and my family are my best friends. I love spending time outside in creation, caring for animals, and discussing faith with others. Art is one of my greatest passions; sharing it with others is another.

Tell the story of how you got to EC.

I went to a classical Christian grade school that deepened my love and appreciation for Christian education. I graduated from Messiah University with a degree in studio art. I have a lot of experience teaching.  During my years at Messiah I taught private art lessons as well as lessons at a local art museum. Getting married brought me to New Jersey, where I wanted to further that love by teaching. My husband is an EC alumnus and encouraged me to apply when an opening for an art teacher became available.

What sets EC apart?

I am very excited to see how God is working in and through the Eastern Christian School community. When I first came to interview for the position, I was encouraged to see respect and diligence in the students. My husband is a graduate of EC, and his appreciation for his time in school gave me confidence and increased my excitement about the school. I look forward to developing relationships with students and staff as I begin this year.
