Eastern Christian School welcomes Jackie Ingis as a high school art teacher and yearbook advisor. An EC alumna, Jackie holds a bachelor’s in fine arts from the College of Saint Rose and master’s in fine arts from SUNY University at Albany, and master’s of fine arts in fine arts from SUNY University at Albany.
I grew up in Waldwick, NJ. The church I grew up in and developed as a young Christian is Maranatha Church of the Nazarene. When I’m not teaching I watch anime and crochet.
Throughout my college career, I was hyper focused on entering the museum industry as a curator and art handler. My professors encouraged me to consider teaching, but I felt like that wasn’t for me. Through COVID and God-led self discovery, I came to realize that I love teaching and even have a gifting for it. As it turns out, God really does know us more than we know ourselves.
A year prior, an EC faculty member reached out to me about an opening. At the time, I wasn’t ready to leave the school I was teaching in. A year later, I reached back out and things fell into place seamlessly. I firmly believe that God led the process of my hiring in his perfect timing.
From my experience, EC is a unique environment that mixes high quality education and sound Christian doctrine. It’s a community that supports, and as appropriate, challenges young minds. As a former student at EC myself, I felt very well equipped to enter college (and the world) as a Christ-follower and young adult.
