Our Open Houses are coming up! REGISTER ONLINE
A little torrential rain, wind, and sub 40 degree temperatures couldn’t keep the EC community from coming out to celebrate another successful HomEComing this past weekend!
The weekend kicked off on Friday night with our boys and girls Varsity soccer games vs. Hawthorne. It was great to see so many families and alumni come out to cheer on our teams despite the ominous weather forecasts. The boys team fought hard in a physical game and came away with a 0-0 tie after two overtimes. The girls soccer team was up next just as the rain started. Even through moments of very heavy wind and rain, the faithful EC crowd stuck around to watch the girls bring home a well-earned 1-0 victory!
On Saturday morning, we welcomed over 60 alumni at the Heritage Reunion Breakfast in the ditto Student Commons at the high school where we celebrated those who graduated from EC 50 or more years ago! Many graduates from the Class of 1966 attended the breakfast in advance of their 60th high school reunion later that night. We were also honored to welcome William Hanse and Robert Tanis, two graduates of the Class of 1951 who celebrated their 75th high school reunion this year. The morning program included a time of worship led by some of our students, a devotion delivered by Dr. Daniel Lazor (Upper Elementary and Middle School Principal), a state of the school update from Head of School Dr. Ruth Kuder, insight into what teaching for transformation looks like in 3rd grade from Upper Elementary School Director Karyn Baitzel, and a tour of the high school for a literal walk down memory lane. This breakfast was a special time of honoring our treasured alumni while celebrating God’s faithfulness to EC over the years and still today.
Over on the Wyckoff campus, we welcomed over 400 people at our Community Picnic who braved the cold and wind! Attendees enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch as well as delicious Korean food provided by our beloved Korean parents group. Little and big kids alike played on the inflatables, the playground, and visited the face painting and balloon twisting stations. Taking full advantage of a very windy day, many families enjoyed flying colorful kites up on the turf field. All throughout campus, families enjoyed being together and fellowshipping with friends.
To finish off the long weekend, the Alumni and Friends Golf Outing teed off on Monday, October 19 at Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point, NY. 56 golfers enjoyed a beautiful fall day out on the course while supporting the Athletic Booster Club. All proceeds raised from this event will specifically benefit the middle school athletics program.
A huge thank you to our 57 volunteers who helped us organize and execute the various events over HomEComing weekend! The heart of the EC community shines through the dedication and servant hearts of our volunteers.
