Please tell us about yourself.

I grew up all over the place! Because of my dad’s studies and ministry, I did elementary school in the Boston area, lived in New Hampshire for a year, then moved to New Jersey for middle school and high school. In college I lived in La Jolla, California for two years (UCSD) and came back home to finish off at Rutgers. Needless to say, New Jersey reigns supreme in my book and so this is where I live now! My sports teams represent my diverse upbringing as well. I love the Boston Celtics and root for the New York Jets and Yankees. I love everything related to fitness and have tried a little bit of everything (ran two marathons, CrossFit, boxing, muay thai, powerlifting). I can’t say I have a favorite…I love them all. I would say when I’m not running after my kids at home, I enjoy exercising and watching a good movie, although I have not seen any good ones recently. If I were to pick a discipline to study, it would definitely be the Old Testament. My favorite books of the Bible are Deuteronomy, Ruth, Daniel, Hebrews, James.

Tell the story of how you got to EC.

After graduating from seminary (Westminster), I was able to serve as the education director at the church that I attend, the Church Gathered and Scattered. Serving there, I was able to focus my time and efforts into the education of our children. Understanding the importance of shaping young minds according to the instruction of the Lord, I was able to re-launch the children’s ministry after COVID, start a youth group, and lead many children’s events throughout the year. Once I found out about the opportunity at Eastern Christian, it was a no brainer for me to apply. I think everything that I had focused on, being a youth minister during seminary, then moving into a director role afterwards, led to the point that I am at today. It is a joy to finally use all the training and experiences that I have gone through in the past nine years to the best of my ability in serving the students at Eastern Christian School.

What sets EC apart?

What sets EC apart is the foundation. Based on the Reformed Christian faith, EC sits on a rich history of biblical, reformed doctrine. I think this is vitally important to the impact that EC has on its students and its staff and that’s what sets it apart from other schools. A lot of times, Christian schools can be more or less broadly evangelical. When schools are more broad, there may be difficulty teaching in clarity. Of course this is not to say that there are no disagreements in the reformed tradition, but the disagreements still have as its foundation, the Word of God. The Reformed Christian faith is clear on many issues and doctrines and so it is refreshing to see a school based on this tradition and doctrines.
