Eastern Christian School welcomes Paige Visbeen as a high school Spanish teacher. As a product of Christian education herself and after years of teaching in a local public school, Paige is excited to leave a lasting impact on the lives of the next generation at EC. 

Please tell us about yourself.

I grew up enjoying nature in a lake community in Ringwood, NJ. I love to sing, run, and create things. I love to spend time outside, play board games and card games, and read.

Tell the story of how you got to EC.

Eastern Christian has had a profound impact on my life in a number of ways. Not only is it the place where I met my husband, but it is the place where I developed my relationship with Jesus in a rich and meaningful way. It is where I learned to see Jesus in my studies of the world and his creation, to be a leader in my faith, and to put my trust in him. I am grateful for the foundation of faith laid in my formative years as a high school student at EC. Additionally, my Spanish teacher at the time encouraged me to pursue further education in the Spanish language throughout my time at EC, leading to the decision to double major in education and Spanish at William Paterson University. At the time, I did not know how God would use my Spanish degree, but I continued to study and grow, trusting that this passion of mine would be used for his glory. Ultimately, I graduated with two degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and Spanish.

After 11 years of teaching several grade levels in the public school system, the opportunity came to return to EC as a Spanish teacher. With two children of my own attending the elementary school, it has been a blessing to see their faith and knowledge of Christ grow. I have seen the impact of Christian education in my own experience as a student and now a mother, and it is with joy that I walk into a new perspective as a staff member at EC. While I look forward to sharing my love for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures with my students, I am most excited to teach in a place where Jesus is at the center of it all, encouraging students to walk closely with Him.

What sets EC apart?

My favorite thing is to hear my son talk about what he is learning about God at school. He will often come home with questions about the Bible, but what I really value are his questions about God’s world and how to understand it through the lens of faith. Students aren’t just encouraged to know about God’s Word or Bible stories; they are encouraged to seek Christ, to abide in Him, in everything they do.
