We have some very exciting news to share: a brand new athletic facility is coming to EC! Eastern Christian High School will have a beautiful, artificial turf soccer and lacrosse field and updated track and field facilities with lights next fall. We just signed the construction contracts which means we’ll be breaking ground this spring!
Some Historical Context
It’s not an exaggeration to say that our athletic program has been talking about a new soccer field for generations. Our most recent efforts toward this goal are part of Campaign 125, launched in our school’s 125th year. The goal of this campaign was to improve our school’s learning environment, student safety, and athletic facilities.
We immediately invested campaign funds in classrooms and campus security upgrades. This field investment represents the final phase of this campaign. After some Covid-19 related delays, we are thrilled to finally move forward!
Why does this matter?
An artificial turf soccer and lacrosse field with surrounding all-weather track and field facilities will provide our community with a significant improvement for our athletic programs and the opportunity to build school community around athletic contests on our campus- think “Friday Night Lights” on school grounds!
Join us as we celebrate the groundbreaking of the final phase of Campaign 125 – THE TURF FIELD! The celebration will include games, fellowship, and a brief ceremony.
Join us on March 4, 2022
Groundbreaking Ceremony (2:30PM)
The ceremony will begin at 2:30pm as we give thanks to God for his faithfulness and our extended EC family for their support and contributions towards this community-building investment in EC facilities. All are welcome!
Final Games (3:15-5:30PM)
3:15pm – Grade 7/8 Soccer Game – Student athletes will hit the field first on this day.
3:45pm – HS Soccer Game – Current HS student athletes will get their last game in on the field they’ve known their entire HS career.
4:30pm – Alumni Soccer – Calling all alumni players! Let the nostalgia kick in and register to play a final game on the grass field before the excavation and construction kicks-off! Register here
5:15pm – Golf Competition – How would you like to gouge some final divots in a closest-to-the-pin style competition? We will be helping break ground by NOT replacing divots. All potential shots will be under 150 yds. This is open to the entire EC community but competitors must bring their own club(s)! Register here
