Mommy & Me Music is Back!

Eastern Christian is excited to offer Mommy & Me music classes again this school year! Did you know that research shows many benefits of music instruction for young children? Music learning supports many types of learning and development, including greater language development, increased IQ, fine and gross motor development, and enhanced brain development. But perhaps most importantly, our Mommy & Me music classes help teach children to appreciate music as a gift from God and a way to worship Him! 

This fall, we welcome EC parent and graduate, Mrs. Sara Spoelstra, as our new Mommy & Me music teacher! Sara has years of experience working as a speech pathologist in a school setting. She loves to sing and play piano at her local church, and spend time with her three young children. Sara is excited to combine her passions for music, language, and working with little ones as she steps into this new role at Eastern Christian School! Through Mommy & Me music classes, Sara will lead students in learning basic musical concepts (volume, rhythm, tempo) by singing, moving, and playing instruments in a safe and structured environment. 

Don’t be fooled by the name of this class! This fun, enrichment opportunity is not limited to moms and their children. Dads, grandparents, and caregivers are also welcome to bring children ages 0-5 for 6 sessions of musical exploration! Enjoy a unique, musical bonding experience with the child (or children) you love. 

Fall classes will meet on Monday mornings at two different times (8:45 am and 10:00 am), beginning on September 30. Classes will be held in the Music Room at Eastern Christian Elementary School (25 Baldin Drive, Midland Park, NJ). The cost is $50 per child.
