Jill Battle, Second Grade Teacher

Tell us about yourself.
I love the Lord and seek to honor Him as a wife, mother and teacher. I am married to my wonderful husband, Matt. We have two daughters, Aubrie, who is in Kindergarten and Lindsay, who is in preschool. I have attended Montvale Evangelical Free Church since I was eight years old. I love spending time with my family, participating in children’s ministries, playing the piano, camping and going to the beach. I have lived in Park Ridge, NJ most of my life.

How did God bring you to work at Eastern Christian School?
I attended Park Ridge High School and graduated from Felician University in 2008 with my Bachelor’s Degree in English and certifications in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I taught Kindergarten in a local public school for almost three years before God called me to be a stay at home mother. During my years outside of the classroom, I coordinated and revitalized numerous children’s ministries at my church including Mommy & Me, Vacation Bible School, and Children’s Church. I also taught a Women’s weekly Bible study. For the last six months, I worked for a public school as a home instructor for children facing serious medical issues.

Over the last year, I felt God calling me back to the classroom. Seeking to be obedient to His will, I prayed daily for His direction. One day, close friends of mine, who attended and taught at Eastern Christian, mentioned checking into an opening for a teaching position at the elementary school. So I prayed and applied! I loved the idea of using my gifts to bless the children and families of Eastern Christian, and that my own children would be able to receive a quality, Christian education. God opened every door and I gladly walked through! I am thrilled to be a part of the Eastern Christian family!

What sets Eastern Christian School apart?
Eastern Christian is unlike any other school I have ever had the privilege to work in! You can see Christ’s light shining through the faculty, staff and students. Not only is learning based on Biblical truths, but those truths are lived out daily by administrators and teachers. Students and staff alike are warm and welcoming. As a teacher, I am thrilled to be a part of a faculty that lovingly supports and cares for one another. As a mother, I’m eager to see my own children learn and grow in their faith as valued students at Eastern Christian.
