Project Based Learning

Project Based Learning

Each year at the elementary school, students participate in a school-wide PBL project. PBL stands for Project Based Learning. In a PBL, students are presented with a real-world problem through the form of an essential question. Students work collaboratively with their peers to brainstorm solutions to the problem. Teachers integrate PBL projects into their grade level curriculum, our annual spiritual theme and our Eastern Christian Core Values. Many of our PBL projects include a global competence component where we learn about other countries and cultures as we seek solutions to global issues.

Past PBL projects included:
  • Serving as Living Stones to support a new Christian school in Haiti
  • Learning how to live as One Body in Christ by serving others with our hands, feet and heart
  • Exploring missionary life and supporting an EC family who served in Tanzania for two years
  • Examining how various Bible characters Ran Their Race with perseverance and how that impacts us as we run our race

See what a Christ-centered education looks like for your child.
