Cultivating academic excellence, service to others, and meaningful co-curricular involvement, the Eastern Christian High School Honors Academy is designed to engage, motivate, and challenge our strongest and most ambitious students. Designed by an interdisciplinary team, the Honors Academy is a key component of EC’s five-year strategic plan, which details our commitment to providing relevant academic offerings and excellent programming to satisfy the diverse learning needs of our students.

The Honors Academy was formally introduced to the school community at an information session on January 29 in the newly renovated ditto Student Commons. Turnout for the event surpassed expectation and feedback was overwhelmingly positive, pointing to a strong desire within the community that the Honors Academy aims to satisfy. The Honors Academy application opened shortly after the event, and again, the volume of applications received provided resounding affirmation of this exciting new initiative.

Students who are admitted to the Honors Academy will be held accountable to rigorous academic standards. These expectations include a minimum GPA threshold, completion of at least 10 honors, AP, and dual enrollment courses, and participation in one national or regional academic competition. Academy students will also satisfy yearly requirements aligned with service and co-curricular experience. Additionally, Academy students are expected to participate in all Leadership Lecture Series events, attend an annual retreat, maintain a journal, and meet regularly with the Honors Academy Advisor. Students will form close relationships within their Academy cohort, gain confidence as they navigate rigorous coursework, learn from industry leaders, and develop a strong academic and cocurricular resume in preparation for college. Students who successfully satisfy all expectations of Academy membership will receive recognition at graduation and notation on their official transcript.

As the 24-25 school year draws near and the inaugural Honors Academy cohort takes shape, we share in the anticipation and excitement for the journey ahead. We are confident that the ECHS Honors Academy will not only enrich the educational experience for participating students, but that it will enhance the culture and strengthen the academic climate within the entire school community.
