Welcome, Alyssa Van Buiten!

Eastern Christian School welcomes EC alumna Alyssa Van Buiten as pre-k/elementary school nurse.

Alyssa received a bachelor’s in nursing from Calvin University.

Tell us about yourself

A lifelong resident of NJ, I reside in Haledon with my husband John, a fellow EC alumnus, and our three children. Over the past 13 years as a nurse, I have most valued building intra personal relationships and trust with my patients, peers and now students to help further their understanding of keeping healthy, but also to know that they are truly cared for. My family and I currently attend Cornerstone Christian Church.

How has God brought you to EC?

My experience has ranged from a post acute rehab center to inpatient in a hospital setting and most recently outpatient in the John Theurer Cancer Center in Hackensack, NJ. I always had an interest in working at the school as a nurse in the past but the timing was off when the opportunity had arisen and now when the opportunity came knocking I was thrilled to be able to say yes, this is where God wants me to be!

What sets EC apart?

At EC, God is present and interwoven through everything. Students learn very early on that God is the designer and perfecter of all things and that our world belongs to Him. EC students show God’s love and compassion both inside and outside of the classroom.
