Eastern Christian School Community,

Thank you very much for the kind words and gestures of encouragement that you have passed onto the members of our team since last night when we shared the news of the need to move from our school buildings for a period of remote instruction. The following quote from one of our parents is just a sample of the sort of encouraging messages that we have received throughout the day today.

“Praying for you and everyone at EC as you make decisions and do a final sprint to set everything up. You’re doing very good and really important work. Keep pushing!”

-EC Parent

As we transition into our remote learning plan, please consider the following important details:

  • All on-site student activities will be suspended as of 6:00 PM on March 13. Sadly, this includes the following important programs:
    • Spring season athletics for all EC sports teams, grades 6-12 are suspended. No practices, games, or any team meetings or get togethers will take place until further notice.
    • The March 13 and 14 performances of Seussical the Musical, the EC spring musical, have been postponed until further notice.
    • All on-site after-school clubs are postponed until further notice.
  • We will utilize two of our unused snow days on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 while teachers finalize preparations to begin remote instruction on Wednesday, March 18. While we have been preparing for this transition to a remote learning format for the last few weeks, our teachers will be taking time together on Monday and Tuesday to finalize their plans so we are ready for a successful launch on Wednesday morning.
  • Our remote learning schedule will begin on Wednesday, March 18. Specific details on schedule, format, etc. will be shared early next week.
  • We encourage you to check your email frequently for regular updates. General communications directly from school leadership will be available at www.easternchristian.org/covid19
  • Please direct any questions or concerns to your campus administrator. He or she will act as the point person for communication at the campus level.

While we do not know how long we will be operating remotely, it is our plan to return to campus as soon as we are safely able to do so. The week of April 6-10 will remain spring break. Remote instruction will not take place during spring break.

Finally, I wanted to share some encouragement. Over the past three weeks, I have been personally amazed at the professionalism, flexibility, creativity, commitment, and work ethic of the EC faculty, staff, and administrators.

God has blessed Eastern Christian School with an incredible team, They have been collaborating with schools from all over the country to ensure our students’ learning is not compromised by this unexpected and unwanted interruption of our normal schedule.

As we look ahead, we know that all of our families will be facing unexpected and significant challenges in the weeks to come. We can only pray that we share the confidence and enthusiasm of our second graders as they praised the Lord today with this song:
