EC 101: Leadership: Administrative Team

I have, quite simply, the best job in the world!For the last 12 years, I have had the opportunity each day to do work that I love serving more than 800 students and their families in the school that I was raised in, working with a group of colleagues that I respect, admire, and trust. It doesn’t get any better than this!

I have the opportunity to provide leadership to Eastern Christian School with a group of colleagues that form the Administrative Council. This team is made up of the following members: 

• Jeff Botbyl, Director of Operations & Security
• Tom Dykhouse, Head of School
• Rudi Gesch, Director of Marketing & Enrollment Management
• Mark Jacobus, Business Administrator
• Ruth Kuder, Chief Education Officer
• Dave Visbeen, Director of ECSA Foundation

When asked to describe them, I made the following observation: this team is professional, innovative, and mission-driven.

Professional

This team of leaders has been prepared for their service at Eastern Christian by way of amazingly diverse professional and life experiences encompassing fields as different as education, law enforcement, construction, finance, and international business.  This is a team that is committed to continuous learning in their respective fields, as well as in the world of educational administration. They are focused on integrating their professional expertise with that of their colleagues to ensure that best possible outcome for the students and families that we serve.

Innovative

Recipients of the NJ Small Business Development Corporation Award for Social Entrepreneurship, this team is excited by the challenge of solving problems and overcoming obstacles. They are allergic to the concept of doing things in a certain way just because they have always been done that way. Optimistically leading with an ethos of “let’s think about this,” the team focuses their broad ranging interests in multiple disciplines to introduce new ideas to the field of faith based education.

Mission Driven

Above all else, this is a team that has been called to serve in the field of Christian education “for a time such as this.” They are people who have had significant success in other areas of professional endeavor, but have chosen to use the skills acquired elsewhere in this most important of all missions. They are people who are driven by a vision for the world-changing impact that high quality, Christ-centered education will have on individuals, families, churches, communities, and broader society for generations to come!
