Eastern Christian Elementary School has an incredible Parent/Teacher Organization! The volunteers of the EC PTO work long and hard to make sure Preschool and Elementary School families have regular opportunities to connect with other families in the EC community. They host several special events throughout the year such as beginning and end-of-the-year picnics, movie nights, father/child nights, mother/child nights, as well as other opportunities such as moms’ night out and dads’ night out. The PTO highly values community and they prove it by everything they do throughout the year!
On Friday, March 8, the PTO hosted a special event by Outragehiss Pets for dads and their children. The host from Outragehiss Pets taught the students, who sat in a large circle in the gym in the elementary school, about several species of animals, all while allowing them to interact with many of the animals. The students learned about some of the animals’ camouflage and adaptive features to avoid predators, and learned other interesting facts to aide in survival.
The event was sold out, and it was a packed house! Students were incredibly engaged and were elated with the opportunity to interact with the animals. Fathers enjoyed watching how excited their children were as they interacted with animals that they have never seen up close before!
Thank you to the Elementary School PTO for sponsoring this exciting, educational evening, and for valuing family experiences! This was a night that will not soon be forgotten!
