Ruth Rudd has worn many hats as a member of the Eastern Christian School faculty. Starting as a bus driver, she moved on to teaching 5th and 6th grade math before becoming the school’s Media Center Specialist. She also serves as Technology Coordinator for the high school, an Online Learning Mentor, and an instructor of Media Literacy and Production to 11th and 12th graders. While some might be overwhelmed by such a wide range of responsibilities, for Mrs. Rudd, it just means more opportunities to help students use technology to prepare for their futures, academically and spiritually.
Read on to get an inside look at the Eastern Christian experience, through the voice of our very own Mrs. Rudd.
The Gateway to Knowledge
Students today are constantly connecting through technology, with faster access to knowledge than ever before. Working in the Media Center, I have the privilege every day to help students discover new things about themselves, our world, and our God through technology. By equipping our students with high-tech skills in conjunction with critical thinking skills, we are able to challenge them to be digitally responsible, empowering them to make the most of these valuable digital resources. Our aim is for technology to be an integral and ubiquitous element of the learning environment, with students and teachers working together to create globally-connected classrooms.
Technology With A Purpose
Behind everything we do at Eastern Christian is the vision of our school: equipping students to make a difference in the world, to be agents of change, and to be people who further God’s Kingdom. With the worldwide potential of technology today, we believe that our students have a unique opportunity to share the gospel in ways more far-reaching than ever before. One of the best parts of my job is seeing students choose to enhance their community and further God’s kingdom. Technology is so much more than a class held in a computer lab. Whether students are studying chemistry or Colossians, it is an integral part of their learning experience.
Learning For The Future
As we help prepare our students for success, technology plays a vital role and reaches across every discipline. Our wide range of cutting edge classes give students the opportunity to develop skills that will help them throughout their academic career and beyond. From basic computer knowledge, to coding, to filmmaking, we motivate our students to become technologically-skilled critical thinkers, mastering the tools of the 21st century for God’s glory. Through our focus on the latest technology, our graduates are able to pursue their chosen profession with skills necessary to transform the world.
