Girls Varsity Soccer 10/17/14

In their last night game at Willow, seniors Lyndsey Smith and Aleah Nieshalla led a strong defensive effort in front of sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Van Lenten as the team picked up their 5th shutout of the season and 8th win, a 2-0 decision over Rutherford. Erin Vander Plaat’s 25 yard bomb opened the scoring and in the 2nd half her blast off the crossbar was followed in nicely by freshman Brianne Veenstra. Rain postponed Thursday’s Hawthorne game to 10/30 and gave some nagging injuries a chance to heal. The team looks forward to hosting Manchester on Monday at Willow and a rematch at rival Pompton on Wednesday next week.
