The stands were packed with EC fans, the concession stand was buzzing with activity, and the competition on Willow Field was intense as the Eagles of Eastern Christian took on the Cardinals of Pompton Lakes in a soccer double header.
In the first game, the EC boys varsity soccer team tied a back-and-forth affair in the dying seconds of regulation with a goal to knot it up at 3-3 (video below). Riding a wave of momentum from that key turning point, the Eagles clinched victory with the golden goal in extra time to beat Pompton Lakes 4-3.
In the second match of the night, the girls varsity teams from the two schools squared off under the lights of the Willow avenue field. In a hard-fought game, the Eagles came up just short, losing 1-0.
Thanks to all who came out to support the team and who helped to make this a great event! Soar EC!
