Eastern Christian School opened its doors for the 122nd first day in school history this morning. As with any new year, there was the familiar “back to school buzz”: friendly teachers ready to welcome in a new group of students, school buses and parents dropping children off at school, new back packs and school supplies, and the excitement of students entering the building for the first time.

This year, in addition to those annual favorite sights and sounds, Eastern Christian had a lot to celebrate. On our Midland Park Elementary School Campus, Principal Sandy Bottge, Head of School Tom Dykhouse, and former foundation board chair David Visbeen hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome students into the completely renovated elementary school.

Some other highlights of our 122nd first day:

  • 144 of Eastern Christian’s 700 students are new to EC this year- 1 in 5 walking through our halls!
  • Mrs. Kuder (High School) and Mr. Van Yperen (Middle School) as “familiar but new” principals in their respective buildings
  • The High School “courtyard project” nearing completion
  • The new High School weight room ready for physical and health education, sports training, and personal fitness
  • Administrators distributing popsicles to all of the students (and teachers!) on this hot day!

We are continually thankful for God’s blessings and faithfulness.  We give Him the glory at the start of this school year. We are excited to continue our partnership with Christian homes and churches in our engaging, nurturing, and transforming education!

See what a Christ-centered education looks like for your child.
