Ernie Pastor

Community Connections Coordinator

Ernie Pastor serves as the Community Connections Coordinator at Eastern Christian School.

What are your main responsibilities at Eastern Christian School?
I will share the responsibility of welcoming new members and shepherding incoming families through the process of joining the EC family. This includes answering their questions, assisting with campus tours and managing their overall experience. In addition, I will be accountable for staying connected with them throughout their journey with EC to ensure that any questions, suggestions or concerns they have are being heard and responded to in order to provide them with the most enriching and rewarding experience we can offer. My goal will be to continue to create an environment that is compelling to new families to join, for existing families to remain, and that will grow the Eastern Christian community and our mission.

What do you love about Eastern Christian School?
I love that I am able to work, and that our students are able to learn, in a nurturing, Christ-based environment. As an alumni of the school myself, I was able to experience firsthand the joy of being able to learn in a way in which I could marry the academic elements with my faith. EC also takes a holistic approach to dealing with its students, where they can feel free to approach faculty and staff with any problems they may be experiencing in life and know that they will receive the one-on-one attention that they need.

How do you make a difference in the lives of students in your role at Eastern Christian School?
As both an employee of EC and a father of two EC students I strive to ensure that EC remains a welcoming environment. In my role I am tasked with ensuring that EC families, especially those new to the school, have the opportunity to share their experiences, concerns and joys in safe and accepting forums that work for them. In doing so we can collect feedback on ways to make EC better, not just in regards to the daily experiences of the students, but also for their parents as well. These improvements allow EC to become a more dynamic and inclusive organization that in turn enables all those who are a part of the Eastern Christian family to maximize their experience.

What sets EC students apart from students in other schools?
EC students have the benefit of learning in a safe, faith based, nurturing environment. At EC your faith in Christ is a part of your everyday experience. That gift, in addition to receiving a superior education, allows the students to grow in both knowledge and character. Graduates of EC learn to serve the Lord and their communities not only during their time as students, but also as adults carrying their beliefs and abilities into the world.

The Eastern Christian tagline is “Engaging. Nurturing. Transforming.” How do you accomplish this in your role at EC?
In my role I will interact with families on a consistent basis. It is important for me to understand and respect the diverse needs and interests of the community and to be attentive to their concerns and feedback. My goal will be to continue to foster an open and non-judgmental environment for feedback and constructive challenge of how we operate today. By valuing and sharing this feedback with in an effort to affect change where needed, I will strive to continue to make sure that EC is actively growing and developing to meet the needs of the individual.
