Eastern Christian School was recently honored with the National Yearbook Program of Excellence Award by its publisher, Jostens. In receiving this award, the school joined only one other school in the state, and was a part of the top one percent in the nation.

According to Jostens, the award was created to honor schools who excelled in both the creation and distribution of the yearbook, evaluating criteria such as overall project management and intentionality in student coverage.

The yearbook program at Eastern Christian School provides students with real-life project management experience in a deadline-driven environment. In addition to creating the yearbook, the course explores business-related content such as journalism, photography, graphic design, marketing and leadership. This year, 14 students from grades 10-12 completed the 200-page book, titled “The Journey,” advised by teacher Leah Genuario.

“I’m very proud of the students in my class for achieving this award. They worked together to produce a book that was unified in its messaging, comprehensive in its coverage, and creative in its content,” said Genuario.

Congratulations to Mrs. Genuario and the Yearbook team on being recognized for your excellent work!
