After School



The Eastern Christian After School program is open to all Eastern Christian students in *preschool through 8th grade. The program is located at the ECES & ECMS campus. Students stay on their campus after the school day ends.  (*Note: Preschoolers must be fully potty trained and not need any assistance in the bathroom to attend the program.)

The After School program runs daily from 3:00-6:00 pm. The cost is $10.50 per child hour and $15.75 per hour for 2 or more children from the same family. Families are billed by EC in two week periods. Students may attend on a regular scheduled basis or as a “drop in” as the need arises. The After School program is divided up into half hour segments including: outdoor or gymnasium activities, snack and homework, free choice and group activities.

The After School Program offers enrichment activities at an additional cost.Varying clubs are offered each season throughout the school year and have included such things as Sports Club, Cooking Club and Art Lessons.  All of the current enrichment activities we offer are explained below.  Instrument lessons are available on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for $40/session. The current information for this years music lessons are explained below.

An After School Program is offered on both our Elementary and Middle School Campus.  To register your child, please fill out the appropriate form.  Use this link to register your child if you plan on sending them for specific week days or on a drop-in basis throughout the school year.  Do not use this link to register your child for clubs or music lessons, there is a separate registration for those below.

Winter After School Club Information.
First come, first served!

 

EC JUMPSTREET ($60)

DESCRIPTION: What combines exercise, music, rhythmics, creativity, teamwork and the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience? EC JUMPSTREET, our new jump rope club! If you saw Mrs. Veenstra’s group perform at halftime of last year’s community night basketball game at our high school you already know how much fun this can be! This year the team will go to new heights!  Come jump at the chance to be part of the action this winter!  All experience levels welcome.  Learn double dutch and other creative ways to jump rope!  (Note: Participation during Community Night is not required for all who register, but it is highly recommended as it will be an exciting event to show off some cool moves.)

CURTAIN CALL ($70)

DESCRIPTION: Do you know how to how to make a new friend, handle a bullying situation, or even how to play with other students?  This club led by Gina Marocco will focus on learning how to socialize with others.  While learning new skills, the class will be writing and performing their own play!  There will be a performance of the play on the last day of club.  Come show off your performing skills while learning valuable tools for interacting with peers.

FUN FOODS BAKING ($105)

DESCRIPTION: Kids are the top chefs in our fun-filled programs brought to you by the CHEF IT UP 2 GO!  Each week the menu and program changes, but the fun never ends! We will be having so much fun experimenting with new foods to try and using the best ingredients for the season we are in! We will show the kids that learning about food is also fun! Some items we will be making are stuffed zucchini boats, pizza cupcakes, wonton rice cups, broccoli bites, fresh squeezed fruit drinks, learning about fresh herbs and of course some sweet treats too like stuffed sweet cream strawberries! So take it from the folks that make kids and food a great mix and enroll in our program today! (Note: peanut & tree nut free, but will be using gluten and dairy).

COMPUTER CODING ($70)

DESCRIPTION: Come and join us in learning computer science skills in Coding Club taught by Melody Zacharias, ECES Media Specialist.  Critical thinking, logic, persistence, and creativity are some of the skills we will be using while we explore fun ways to code.  Students will learn block coding basics and be able to use these skills to code different computer games on their own!

LET’S DRAW ($75)

DESCRIPTION: As a teacher of young students I often hear I can’t draw a …?  In this club children will discover they can make simple pictures by drawing shapes.  We’ll have fun drawing trees, buildings, people and much more.  At the same time the children will build their confidence level in drawing and gain practice with fine motor skills.  Drawing illustrations made easy.  The club will be lead by one of our ECES teachers, Mrs. Holly.

After School Music Lessons

 

Bring out the musician in your child as they take lessons taught by well-qualified instructors.  Piano lessons will lay the foundation for all further music study, violin students can get a head start on the Violin program at their school, and guitar students can begin to learn the basics of melody and chords that are essential for solo performance or accompaniment. All instrumental instruction will provide that one-on-one attention needed to take your child’s playing to the next level!  All music students end each school year by performing in a music concert.  Come and start a musical journey that will last a lifetime!

INDIVIDUAL LESSONS:

  • Where: Eastern Christian Elementary or Middle School
  • When: one day of the week through the whole year.
  • Who: K-8th Grade
  • Available Timeslots: 3:00 PM-6:00 PM (30 Minute Lessons)
  • Cost: $40 for a half hour lesson.  Payments of cash or check go to the After School Director.  Payments will be collected in semesters.  See registration form for details.

GROUP LESSONS:

  • Where: Eastern Christian Elementary School
  • When: for 5 weeks from 4:30-5:00 on Mondays (1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12 & 2/26)
  • Who: a small group (max: 5 students)  
  • Cost: one time payment of $85 for all 5 weeks made to the After School Director
  • Note: this is a beginner class for students just starting out.  Students must bring their own guitar.
