High School Science Teacher

EC Start Date: 2016

Education: B.S. - Chemistry, Wageningen University, The Netherlands
M.S. - Chemistry, Wageningen University, The Netherlands
Postdoctoral teacher training program - Utrecht University, The Netherlands

Bio:

Petra loves learning so she basically never left school. When she completed her degree, she started teaching at Van Lodenstein College (VLC), where she taught high school Chemistry for 5 years. When her husband, Henk Eshuis, was invited to a PhD program in Bristol, they spontaneously said ‘yes’ to the opportunity and they moved to Bristol for a while. Their family grew and they had Rebecca and Joel. When they moved to Irvine, California, Petra started teaching again – first in summer school programs at UCI and then at Whittier Christian High School in La Habra. The family’s next move was to New Jersey and Petra started looking for a Christian School to teach at and to send their children to. She found EC on the internet, applied and was offered a position. Soon after she started, she realized how EC in many ways is similar to VLC, so she reached out to her old school and connected it with EC. Petra and her family are active members of the United Methodist Church, where she serves as a lay leader.

Education: B.S. - Psychology & Education, William Paterson University
M.S.Ed. - Educational Leadership, University of New England

Bio:

Liesl is wife to Paterson Police Detective Rick Botbyl and Mother of Greta and Elizabeth (and even dog Bosco). When telling people her career of choice there is always a cringe-like reaction greeted by Liesl’s “but I wouldn’t want to spend my day with anyone else!” She loves dreaming about what is going to help our students be better learners and even better keepers of God’s world. The next best thing to teaching would be anything involving reading, baking, and being outdoors enjoying nature.
