What do you love about Eastern Christian School?
“One thing that I love about EC is the “Making a Difference” (M.A.D.) program. I love how we get involved with other people and try to make a difference in their lives. My old school didn’t have anything like MAD and I think it is important to teach kids to help others and show the love of God. I also really like the core values and merits. It is nice to have “goals” and be unexpectedly rewarded for the good everyday things we do at school.”
Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why he/she is a favorite:
“One of my favorite teachers at EC is Mrs. Kuehlke. Before I came to this school, I hated reading. I would read a maximum of five books a year. Mrs. Kuehlke helped me find my favorite genre and now I read an average of 20 books a quarter. She is very easy to get along with. My dad is always telling me about the importance of writing workshop and Mrs. Kuehlke makes it a very fun class.”
In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of their experience at Eastern Christian School?
“Mrs. Tyvoll’s Bible class has really changed my point of view on Jesus and Christianity. Since I am a small group leader, I have really learned about everything we talked about in chapel in a different way because I had to teach it in my group. Being a small group leader has also brought me closer to God.”
How do you experience an education that is engaging, nurturing and transforming at EC?
“The teachers at EC plan many different things for us in their lessons which keeps me interested in class because you never know what you are going to do that day. EC feels very safe because we practice what to do in case of emergencies. EC has also changed my view on school because although Eastern Christian has a very happy environment, it also is very serious about classes and the education we receive.”
How do you feel that EC is preparing you for graduation, college and life? What are your plans after you graduate (it’s okay if you don’t know)?
“EC gives us some challenging assignments and projects to prepare for the way it will be in high school. They also give us essential questions that make us think about the way our lesson is connected to life. I don’t know what I w ant to do w hen I grow up, but I know EC is preparing me for life.”
“When I came to EC on the first day of school, Mrs. Faber was a big help. She and Cassidy (my ambassador) made me feel at home right away. Everyone was very accepting and the mood of the school w as very light. It was very easy for me to become friends with many people and for me to love the school.”
