What do you love about Eastern Christian School?
I love the community that EC has. I love how they are very attentive about each one of their students and how no one is really left in the dark. I love the atmosphere that we learn in and how we are unique from other schools in the area. Personally for myself, EC has been a big help with me being able to get through all of my classes in times when I am sick or recovering from surgery or what not. Having Cystic Fibrosis and needing to do everything I had to do throughout a day or year, EC has helped me get through some difficult times while still providing me with the education I need.
Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why he/she is a favorite:
Well I have had many favorite teachers throughout my EC career but for High School one sticks out particularly. Mr. Philip Verrengia has been the dean of students for myself, along with being my physics and chem teacher. I did not really get to know him until the second half of High School, but he was very understanding of the situation I was in medically and helped in anyway shape or form that he could. He helped me academically and was always very friendly whenever I talked with him. He always has a great personality, especially hanging out with him on our senior trip to Washington DC.
In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of their experience at Eastern Christian School?
EC has helped me grow in my faith ever since I was in early Pre-K. Being exposed to loving and learning God since I was young has help result to who I am today. Having my faith grow more in high school has also help shape me as I was able to discuss to others about it and share conversations about what it means to be a Christian. Junior year seem to be a big step for myself with making my faith more of my own than it even was before. Having the opportunity to be a Man Up leader senior year and also an example to the rest of the school was an honor.
The Eastern Christian tagline is “Engaging. Nurturing. Transforming.” How do you experience an education that is engaging, nurturing and transforming at EC?
Engagingly I have talked to others about not just my faith but also in my academic learning. Nurturing both my spirit and well being. Through my faith I have been able to succeed, but also of those who have been around me for 15 years helping me through any struggle I was dealing with physically. EC helped me Transform into the person I am today.
How do you feel that EC is preparing you for graduation, college and life? What are your plans after you graduate?
The college preparation with EC has been fantastic. Having Mr. Struck and others help me and guide me to what I want to do and where was very important. I never really felt lost or super overwhelmed through the process and I was able to pick out Messiah College in Pennsylvania which I will be attending this fall. I am planning on going down the engineering path, but you never know what God has in store for you.
What sets EC apart from other schools?
They care for everyone. They love everyone. They make sure everyone is receiving the education they need. They have helped create a safe and successful path from Pre-K to senior year of high school.
