Faith in Action

Faith In Action (FIA) is an opportunity for students to serve as the hands and feet of our Savior. The intention of this program is to encourage community service from a Christian perspective. This is an exciting opportunity to serve Jesus Christ in a wide variety of ways.

Middle School

FIA is a graduation requirement for all ECMS students. Each 6th grade student entering ECMS is required to complete twenty (20) hours of Faith In Action service while they attend the middle school, with a minimum of two separate experiences.

ECMS recommends 6-8 hours to be completed by the end of each school year to help them pace out the required hours of service. Of course, there is no limit to the amount of hours your child serves! Students will receive a pass/fail report card grade for completion of their Faith In Action hours at the end of the 3rd quarter of their 8th grade year.

The breakdown of required FIA hours for students entering ECMS is as follows:

Grade Total Hours Needed by Graduation
Enter as a 6th grader 20
Enter as a 7th grader 14
Enter as a 8th grader 7

High School

FIA is a graduation requirement for all Eastern Christian High School students.  Each freshman entering ECHS is required to complete fifty (50) hours of Faith In Action service while they attend high school. ECHS recommends 15 hours to be completed by the end of each year for the first three years of school (Grades 9 – 11), and the final 5 hours are due by Christmas break of the senior year.

Students will receive a pass/fail report card grade for completion of their Faith In Action hours at the end of the first semester of their senior year.

The breakdown of required FIA hours for students entering ECHS is as follows:

x2VOL is an online system we use for sharing opportunities and documenting FIA hours. Opportunities to serve which are brought to the school’s attention, as well as ongoing partners in the community, are shared with our students. Students are also encouraged to seek out the many opportunities all around us as well to serve others in a Christ-like spirit. These opportunities exist both within Eastern Christian and in our local communities. Students must log their hours, service, and a reflection to ‘share their story’ that discusses how their faith was impacted or how the experience was a tangible representation of our core values at EC. Then the service must be verified by a supervisor’s text or email. We urge students to log their hours as soon as possible after completing a task.

See what a Christ-centered education looks like for your child.
