Winter Athletic Highlights 2019-2020

Headlining our winter athletic season was veteran coach Joel Apol’s indoor track & field team which boasts four state champions: Senior pole vaulters Grace Kellogg and David DeVries, sophomore sprinter Jaden Belen in the 55m and freshman Anneke Kuperus in the high jump! Grace and junior Matias Cortes also earned 1st team All County honors in pole vault with their performances at the county championships!

Also making news and surging toward the top was our bowling team led by seniors Evan Yang, AJ Lopez and junior Daniel Buckles. Coach Aaron Goldstein’s team finished in 3rd place with a 92-32 record including our highest game total  ever against Pompton Lakes (740) and highest series total ever against Glen Rock (2033) 

In basketball, our boys varsity defeated Hawthorne Christian in a thriller in front of a packed house en route to the Christmas tournament championship under first year coach Ben Fuller. Senior Ben Parker became the 1st boy since 2009 to score his 1000th point and was joined in the starting lineup by classmates Chas Phillips, Chris Pico and Chase Dejong. In middle school action our girls put together an 11-3 record for first year coach Belen Araneda that featured two wins over perennial nemesis Lincoln School of Hawthorne!

Congratulations to all coaches who served faithfully and athletes who committed themselves to representing EC and our Lord so well over the long winter season. To God be the glory!
