The Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) has supplied millions of dollars of gift cards to parents and supporters since its inception.
Each week, our TRIP volunteers provide the opportunity for those using TRIP to order and purchase gift cards. These are the same gift cards that you might purchase at the grocery store or 7-Eleven. EC is able to provide these cards for dozens and dozens of local and online retailers, grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants. The TRIP “store” is open each Friday morning at the Middle School where parents and supporters stop in to purchase cards. Many cards can also be purchased online.
TRIP users purchase the cards at face value, but EC is able to purchase the cards at a discount. The difference is shared between the TRIP purchaser and ECSA. For example, a parent may purchase a $100.00 card for ShopRite. They can take that card to ShopRite and purchase $100.00 of groceries. But, EC purchases the card for $95. The $5 discount is then shared with $4 going to the purchaser’s tuition account and $1 going directly to EC. The discount and distribution varies from card to card.
While $4 may not sound like much, families that have taken TRIP seriously and who use the cards regularly have saved thousands of dollars in tuition. TRIP has helped to make an EC education possible for many children who, without the program, would not be at Eastern Christian School.
Now it is even easier to purchase TRIP cards. The Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff has generously offered to make TRIP cards available at De Snoep Winkel Gift Shop six days a week. We are piloting this program with just four of our TRIP vendors with hopes of increasing the selection in the future.
Beginning on Friday, March 22, 2019 the following cards and denominations area available:
Simply stop by De Snoep Winkel Gift Shop and purchase your cards from the cashier. Be sure to have your TRIP number available to assure proper application of your tuition credits. Please access De Snoep Winkel by using the Christian Health Care Center entry located at 700 Mountain Avenue.
