Taylor Sinclair, 3rd/4th Grade Aide & Media Specialist

Tell us about yourself.
I grew up in Oakland and went through the Oakland Public School System. I always loved going to school, playing school, etc. I was encouraged by all of my teachers to continue my education and strive to become a teacher just like them. I really enjoy being outdoors and usually by a body of water! In the winter, I like to ski!

How did God bring you to work at EC?
This past spring Linda Van Grouw mentioned that EC may have some opportunities for me. I interviewed for one of the 2nd grade openings, but that was not God’s plan. I finished my student teaching and graduated from William Paterson in May. After sending out other applications, going on other interviews, and lots of prayer I was offered an aide position in another district. Meanwhile, Sandy had kept me in the loop of some positions still available in the elementary school. Just when I was about to accept the other offer, Sandy called me and mentioned that she had an aide and media specialist still available. The timing was great and I could not deny the Lord’s presence in all of this. I called Sandy back and told her that EC is where I am supposed to be and would be honored to be a part of the EC community. God is good!

What sets EC apart?
After school being in session just three days, it is already obvious why EC. There is a sense of faith, community, family, right when you enter the doors. Everyone knows everyone and everyone cares for everyone. That feeling is not present in all schools. It is obvious that the teachers know how important it is to lead by example and work with and through God’s word to help prepare our students. The staff is so grounded in faith and focused on Him that teaching comes naturally and the school is a safe environment for all to learn.
