Don Wisse

Two sisters preceded me in attending Pine Street Christian School in Passaic, New Jersey. Our family is a third generation Eastern Christian School family.

Eastern Christian has been an integral part in preparing me for my lifetime work. I have served as a pastor in the Christian Reformed for over 50 years. We were taught that we must not simply accept the faith of our parents without proper study and investigation. Why do I believe what I do? On what do I base my belief? My teachers drilled into my mind that I must believe only what the inspired Word of God teaches.

I received an individualized Christian education. My teachers were concerned about me, the total me, body and soul. They were not satisfied to simply guarantee me a quality academic education. They wanted to be sure that I understood that God is involved in His world. That all of creation belongs to Him.

I am so thankful that my parents had the desire and faith to send us to the Christian school. It was not easy for them. They never owned a car, but they did own a faith which they wanted to pass on to us, their children. They believed that the best way they could pass on that precious faith was to teach it at home and to support that teaching by a Christ centered education at Eastern Christian School.

We sent our children to Eastern Christian School because we believed as our parents did, that we needed to support what we taught in our home with a powerful ally, the Christian School. We want our children and grandchildren to be taught that the whole world belongs to God, including every academic subject taught in the school. We believe that Eastern Christian School is staffed by God honoring, God believing teachers who want nothing less than to pass on that faith to their students.
