SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY
Eastern Christian High School is the secondary school of the Eastern Christian School Association which was founded in 1892. The Association includes four schools; Pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school with a combined enrollment of approximately 760 students. High school enrollment is approximately 340. The schools are parent-owned and are governed by an elected Board of Directors. Support is largely from members of the Reformed and Christian Reformed Churches.
The student body represents several Christian denominations and includes over 175 individual churches. Socio-economic backgrounds range from urban centers, to suburbs and rural areas. Fifteen to eighteen percent of the students represent minority backgrounds.
Academic excellence is strongly emphasized along with respect for individual differences and flexibility of programming where needed. Each student is challenged to grow and develop to the highest reaches of his or her ability.
In addition to the academic challenge there is a commitment to foster in students an excitement for the spiritual dimension to their lives and a willingness to wrestle with moral and social issues both on a personal level and for the greater social good.
