Foundation for Eastern Christian School Association

On June 10, 2008 the Eastern Christian School Association (ECSA) Board of Directors approved a resolution to establish a Foundation to undertake all of the Association’s fundraising activities.  The resolution provided that the Foundation will function as Eastern Christian’s primary fundraising vehicle and assume all responsibilities of the former ECSA Development Office.  The Bylaws adopted by the Foundation for Eastern Christian School Association, Inc. state that the objectives of the Foundation “ are to support and benefit Eastern Christian School Association and to further the school’s charitable, educational and religious mission through activities that include, but are not limited to conducting fundraising activities, maintaining or supporting an endowment, and granting funds.”

Some of the more visible programs that the Foundation will sponsor are alumni relations programs, events and reunions, the Annual Fund, Christian Education Day, capital campaigns, scholarship dinners, T.R.I.P.(tuition reduction incentive program) and processing Foundation grants, as well as supervising fundraising entities formed for the benefit of ECSA.  The Foundation will also annually sponsor various fundraising events such as a golf outing, fashion show and auction as well as other periodic fund raising activities.

The Foundation is responsible for the production and publication of the Association’s magazine known as The Herald.

On October 1, 2008, the Foundation for Eastern Christian School Association, Inc. announced the appointment of Garret G. Nieuwenhuis as its first Executive Director.  In this capacity, Mr. Nieuwenhuis serves as the chief Executive Director of the Foundation and Chief Development Officer for Eastern Christian School.  Mr. Nieuwenhuis may be reached by mail at the Foundation’s offices located at 50 Oakwood Ave, North Haledon, New Jersey 07508, or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Maria Silverstein

As a widowed parent of a student at Eastern Christian Middle School, I can speak with a great deal of excitement about our experience at EC. I transferred my son over from public school in the middle of his 5th Grade year.
