School Stuff

Prayer Request Box: A prayer request box is located in the Deans' Office. You may submit requests and praises and your confidentiality will be ensured. You will be prayed for by school parents on a regular basis.

Back to School Night: The second semester Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, February 1st. Encourage your parents to come out and meet your second semester teachers! Parents should pick up schedules in the cafeteria at 6:45pm. At 7:00pm there will be an overview of the parent survey results with Dr. Uecker in the auditorium. 7:30-8:30 p.m. go to Block 1-4 classes.

"Singing Telegram" The Micah Challenge will be hosting the Baby Bank Fundraiser! Have the Micah Challenge sing a song to your "special someone" or teacher on Tuesday, February 14. When you sign up you will choose one song from a list of great songs. The price of each song is $5 to be sung during class and $7 to be sung during lunch in the cafeteria. A table will be set up outside the cafeteria beginning next week Monday, January 30 through Wednesday, February 8. The Baby Bank raises money to purchase supplies for pregnant mothers in need of financial support. Please help us to support mothers in need by purchasing a song!

Faith In Action Opportunity: The annual ECMS Winter Carnival is going to be held January 27 from 7-9 pm in the MS gym. High School students (grade 10-12) are needed to help run games, serve refreshments, or with set up and /or clean up. This qualifies for in school service hours. Call Mrs. Albies at 201-312-7862 if you are interested. Seniors......if you need in-school FIA to complete your graduation requirement be sure to sign up for this opportunity.

Report Cards: Report cards will be mailed home Friday, January 27.

SPRING SPORTS SIGN-UPS: Sign up for Spring sports will be this Wednesday. A table will be set up outside the High School Office. Any questions, see Mr. King. Please do not forget.

Attention all Students: Anyone wanting to purchase a leather sleeve athletic jacket should see Mr. King for details.

Coffee with the Principal: Enjoy conversation related to school topics over coffee and treats on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. on 2/8, 3/7, 4/4 and 5/2. Attend chapel before

the "coffee talk" at 9:35 a.m. in the auditorium if you are able.

College & Career News...For ALL Students:

  • Junior Parent Night – Juniors and their parents are invited to attend the Junior Parent Night on Wednesday, February 15, at 7:30 pm. Information and an invitation have been sent to your homes.
  • Seniors – Please give copies of any awards/scholarships that you receive from your colleges to Mrs. Borduin so that they can be listed in the graduation program. Even if you do not attend those colleges, it is still an honor to receive those awards.
  • Scholarship – Passaic County Sheriff's Community Outreach Foundation Scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Passaic County going on to an accredited college. The award is based on academic accomplishments, financial need, and moral character. Priority will be given to students planning to pursue a career in a public service profession where they will give back to the community. If you wish to apply, applications are available in the College & Career Office and must be received by May 1.
  • Engineering Career Day at Rutgers University – NJ Society of Professional Engineers is sponsoring an Engineering Career Day on March 14. There is a $12 entrance fee and a $10 bus fee to attend this session. If you are interested in exploring the various fields of Engineering, please give your name to Mrs. Borduin by February 1. (This is open to students in grades 9 – 11, with an emphasis on juniors.)
  • 2012 N J Business Idea Competition – Sponsored by Fairleigh Dickinson's Silberman College of Business and the Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship, this program is an entrepreneurial opportunity for ALL high school students who wish to submit their bright business idea into a competition for monetary prizes ranging from $100 - $400. More information and the application are online at www.fdu.edu/businessidea with a February 19 deadline.
  • Penn Engineering Summer Academy in Applied Science & Technology – Exceptional students may experience an intensive three-week high tech/Ivy League program in Biotechnology, Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Nanotechnology, or Robotics while earning college credits. Program is July 8 – 27 and the deadline to apply is May 25. More information is available online at www.seas.upenn.edu/saast
  • Adelphi University (NY) Pre-College Intensive Programs in Business, Dance, Nursing, Emergency Administrative Services, and Social Work – for more information check online at http://academics.adelphi.edu/hsp/precollege
