Beefsteak Dinner

On Wednesday January 30 evening the Eastern Christian Athletic Boosters held their 4th Annual Beefsteak Dinner at The Brownstone in Paterson. Everyone enjoyed the traditional Brownstone fare including the delicious beefsteak. Co-chairmen Ben Spoelstra and Roger Steiginga again organized a fun event. The evening started with Senior Seth Stadtlander speaking on what participating in a Christian athletic program meant to him for four years. He then opened the evening in prayer. Following that Athletic Director Steven King gave the State of the Union address by highlighting many of the accomplishments of the teams and individual athletes over the past year. In addition Athletic Director Steve King and Principal Joel Uecker spoke concerning the starting of the lacrosse programs this spring. Another highlight of the evening was the honoring of the 1990 League, County and State Championship Volleyball Team. Six members of the team were in attendance. This is the only team in EC history that has captured the trifecta of high school athletics. Newspaper articles and pictures from the 1990 season helped to bring many great memories.

With 283 people in attendance, we also had an enthusiastic audience for bidding on golf outings, NY Yankee and Mets tickets, NY Football Giants tickets, NY Knickerbockers Tickets as well as an autographed hockey stick signed by NY Ranger, Marion Gaborik. We also had drawings for a number of household and electronic items. All in all $12,896.62 was raised for the EC Athletic Boosters.
