At Eastern Christian, we value the abilities and contributions of young children. Our program is designed to help children develop spiritually, educationally, socially and emotionally. Children’s learning is enhanced through discovery and hands on learning in a safe, loving and nurturing environment.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:35-11:30AM
Lunch Box and Play Programs available until 3:15 PM
Bible
Children in the three year old class learn that they are children of God and that they are special to Him and to others. They realize that the world around them is created by God. They gain knowledge of Bible stories. Children experience and participate in prayer. Bible lessons include Old Testament stories (Creation and Bible heroes) and the life of Jesus (including miracles and parables) in the New Testament.
Social Interaction
Three year olds learn to cooperate with others in a classroom setting. They interact in small groups as well as the class as a whole. They begin to assume responsibilities and share materials within the classroom. The students are introduced to classroom routines and rules and begin to learn and follow them.
Language Development
Three year old Preschool students are exposed to a variety of activities to help develop their ability to communicate verbally with others. Vocabulary continues to develop and understanding is increased. Children understand the importance of books and speech.
Pre-Reading Readiness
Activities are designed to help children develop auditory and visual discrimination and the ability to follow directions and solve problems is developed. Children learn their colors. The alphabet is introduced and children begin to recognize letter names. Children can recognize their first names in print and begin to write them.
Pre-Number Activities
Children in the three year old class develop an awareness of numbers. They begin to recognize numbers and rote count. They can recognize basic shapes.
Science
The children develop an awareness of the wonders of the world God created. They learn about seeds, the life cycle of the butterfly, weather and good health habits.
Social Studies
Students learn about themselves in relation to others. This includes their relationships within their families, friends and community.
Music
Children learn to appreciate music as a creative tool. They use music to sing praise to God and worship Him.
Art
Children express themselves artistically and creatively. The making of crafts reinforces learning. Children use a variety of media.
Large Motor Development
Three year olds engage in various large motor activities to help develop balance, control, rhythm and agility.
Fine Motor Development
Three year olds develop the muscles they will later use for writing. Activities help develop eye-hand coordination and gain control in small motor skills.
